I applaud them for having the sensibility to recognize their strengths and their weaknesses. Let's remember that the Diablo 3 developers had the foresight to make the cutscenes auto-skippable with a menu option from DAY ONE and people USED it. That's not why we play these games, though, and especially not with Diablo. Games with stories that inspire and tickle the imagination. To put it in as simple terms as possible, you can have up to 3 Phantasm s active any further channeling of Spirit Barrage will detonate the first one cast and spawn a fresh Phantasm. But we live in a world that has The Last of Us and Uncharted and Detroit and Beyond:2s, and such. Spirit Barrage is quite complex in its inner workings, and its intuitive channeling playstyle should in fact be actively avoided in most circumstances. I feel like they hit a high point in WoW somewhere around Lich King or Cataclysm, but even there it's mostly self-referential meme repetition and pop-culture references. Their storytelling is not particularly good. Everyone hyped for grimdark and such, but it feels like little South Park emo kids dressing in black and arguing about who is the most nonconformal. It was so fucking basic!!! The dialogue was so childish and cliched. I agree that the D4 campaign felt like an open world version of the D3 campaign. Their story/cutscenes-game is pretty good. Necro is crazy-strong, but doesn't get their teleport until 30 or something crazy.Īlso, though, you can view all the cutscenes from the menu without having to go through the awful campaign again.
